The Master Angler Awards Program is one of In-Fisherman magazine's most popular features acknowledging readers' trophy catches. The Master Angler Program is recognized as one of the most prestigious and demanding programs of its type. The awards program runs from January 1 to December 31 with 26 species represented throughout North America. The Master Angler Program maintains a strong tradition of emphasizing the catch & release angling ethic.

In 2007 readers submitted 663 trophy-sized fish, a jump of almost 150 fish from the previous year. Smallies topped the chart for the third year in a row, with 101 qualifiers of 20 inches or 5 pounds.
